Event
Relaxation in Nature: Forest Bathing at Emily Oaks
Thursday, May 8, 2025
6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Forest therapy and forest bathing are based on the Japanese practice of "shinrin-yoku," a form of therapeutic relaxation in which your senses are immersed in nature.
Gayle Byck, a certified forest therapy guide, will lead participants through a guided sensory meditation, activating all five senses and the imagination. This slow-paced walk includes opportunities to connect with nature along the way, encourages reflection and sharing, and will close with sharing a cup of tea together around a campfire.
Well-suited to anyone interested in reducing stress and connecting with the natural world, forest bathing is accessible to people of all fitness levels and ages. Relax, heighten your awareness, and form a deeper connection to nature.
Dress comfortably and with consideration for the weather. We will meet at Emily Oaks Nature Center, 4650 Brummel St. Skokie. You may want to consider bringing a water bottle or bug repellant. Several camping tripod chairs, sit pads, and blankets will be provided, but feel welcome to bring your own chair.
Registration begins May 1.
