Skokie residents
Don't have a library card? Bring an ID or utility bill that shows your Skokie address to a help desk on the first floor or to the bookmobile.
Businesses
Companies based in Skokie and members of the Skokie Chamber of Commerce are eligible for a business library card. Complete the business library card online application and we’ll mail the card to the business address you provide.

Reciprocal Borrowing
If you live in the city of Chicago, or another town that is part of the RAILS public library system, bring your local library card and a photo ID that shows your name and current address in order to register that card with us. Nonresidents can check out up to 50 items. Reciprocal borrowers may not check out Most Wanted book, Hot Picks DVDs or Blu-rays, STEAM Kits, WiFi hotspots, Chromebooks or Library of Things items. These items are limited to Skokie cardholders only.

Lost your card?
Call immediately to report a lost or stolen card. You are responsible for any items checked out with the card until we are notified.

If you move, update your address and phone number at the west desk.
Renewing your card
Skokie Residents
As long as you remain a Skokie resident, your library card will not expire.
Businesses
Library cards are valid for 1 year. Chamber members’ cards are valid as long as they have a current membership. To renew, please complete the business library card online application. All accrued fees must be paid before the card can be renewed. Card(s) will be renewed for one year.
Reciprocal Borrowers
Once your home library card is registered with us, it will not expire. However, if you move, make sure you notify us of your new address. You may need to obtain a new library card if you move into a different library service area.

Stay on top of your library account with email notifications. We’ll email due date, overdue, and holds notifications. Give us your email address when you get your library card or add an email to your account.
