Lisa Goodman-Helfand has lived in Skokie for most of her life and is currently a teacher. Join us for an inspiring evening as Lisa discusses the writing of her book.

Learn about Lisa's battle with a rare disfiguring disease, paralysis, and 218 days in the hospital. She will read excerpts from Does This Hospital Gown Come with Sequins? The memoir illustrates the warmth and acceptance she's received through her lifelong ties to Skokie. Lisa Goodman-Helfand is a writer, national speaker, and educator. Her work has been featured in Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping, Woman's Day, The Huffington Post, and Chicago Parent. Her blog, Comfortable in My Thick Skin, explores motherhood, marriage, body image, beauty, and overcoming obstacles.
